Barnet Sprint Meet 3rd September 2006 The lure of swim shop vouchers drew an enthusiastic team up to north London for Barnet’s annual sprint meet. Gina Hobson’s and Andy Hudson’s pbs and 2nd places in the 50 br were a highlight, with both loving the fly kick now being allowed at the start and turn. Ruth Morrison once again proves that intensive training (or any training) isn’t necessary and will be modifying her Sheffield targets in response to some strong swims in the fc and br. Locky Pollard and Adam McCarthy took the dive back into competitive swimming and didn’t seem too scarred by the experience, so hopefully they’ll be competing again soon. Lauren Edwards will be taking away and trying to replicate her ‘perfect’ dive in the 100br. Also posting strong swims were Roger Phillips, Catherine Couquet, who we’ll be losing shortly as she jets off to the Hague (keep up the training!), Liz Shaw, and Derek Parr, in disguise. Swim of the meet was a team effort in the mixed medley, with Lauren and Ruth doing the hard work early on and allowing Adam and Locky to overhaul the girls from Barnet and Camden to take 1st. Barnet came up trumps again in allowing the team to set the bar low-ish for Sheffield. Next, bring on the sun, sand, surf, and the 4 hours per day of swimming, in La Santa.
